Some feature requests

Dear all,

First, thank you for Gwenview. I have been a fan since the KDE3 days and it
has been a pleasure to use it over the years.I use Gwenview to manage a
collection of 500+ illustrations of invertebrates which I carry with me as I
collect specimens in the field. The images are scraped from a public
database and I use exiftool to insert a lot of information as metadata into
various fields and the images themselves are named according to the
particular species. I have a few feature requests that matches my particular
usage case but which I think would benefit others as well:

1) Display all lines of multiline metainformation (for my metadata, only the
first line is shown in the panel, even though I can see all lines when
adding the properties using the More... option).

2) Turn http:// addresses inside metainformation into clickable links

3) Toggle on/off filenames in the thumbnail bar

4) An alternative drag-and-drop behavior: dropping an arbitrary selection of
images from for instance Dolphin should open a browse view displaying said
images instead of asking if I would like to copy them to a folder. For
instance, in my case, the instant filtering functions in Dolphin are quicker
to use to filter images on filename than the filters in Gwenview (which
admittedly still are very useful). It would be nice if this mode would
aggregate subsequently dropped images until the user cleared the "table".
This way a user could quickly create an arbitrary collection of images from
different directories and export when ready. Is this usage scenario already
possible somehow?

5) Export to new local directory should be listed among the other export
options (even though the copy to option under File serves the same purpose)

Kudos and thanks again for a great program!

Best regards,
Andreas

The meta-information widget needs to be improved indeed. I am not sure
one want to see all lines everytime, but there should be a way to reveal
all lines when needed.

Good point.

So far I like the simplicity of the current thumbnail bar. I am not too
keen on complicating it.

I used to use symbolic links to do this, but nowadays I usually tag
images with Nepomuk to create such collections.

Note: starting with Gwenview 2.5, if you select multiple images in
Dolphin, open the context menu and select "Open with Gwenview", Gwenview
will only display the selected images (it creates links to the selected
images in a temporary folder). This may help you as well.

I don't see the need for this. As you said, "File > Copy" already does
what you want.

While were on the subject, I would really like the ability to sort by
image dimensions and/or filter by image width or height. Currently
you can display the dimensions of an image, but you have to search
through file browser by hand to find the ones with the dimensions you
want.

(still catching up with email)
A new type of filter could be added, indeed. I don't have time to do
this myself, but can provide help if you want to implement this.
